Lemon is one of my favorite flavors in cooking! I love the fresh tartness - especially in the spring. When Tim and I were in Italy we often made lemon chicken with risotto or rice that was delicious! Remembering our shopping trips to Mercato Centrale to buy the fixings for this dish is what inspired this next painting. I've included my favorite recipe for a lemon chicken marinade below.
3 x 3 in., oil on canvas "Lemons in a Bowl" after Sharon Shock
My first painting is of three nestled coffee cups. I have fond memories of sipping piping hot coffee from these cups when Tim and I lived in our little apartment in Florence, Italy. If I listen hard enough, I can still hear the roar of people bustling in the streets three floors below, and the bells of Orsanmichele.
Welcome! This blog began as a record of paintings that I started on March 8, 2010. Since then it has evolved to include other mediums of artistic expression. Most of these are intimate compositions of things that bring me joy. By favoring simplicity over complexity in composition, I find that they have a fresh quality allowing the viewer to complete the image. They are meant to evoke nothing but perhaps a smile of acknowledgment in the simple pleasures of everyday life. Check back often for new creations. Enjoy!
